Crash


STEP 1: THE TITLE/ INTRODUCTION

The introductory monologue pretty much summarizes most of what happens in this movie. People in L:A: move back and forth in their cars, without any kind of human contact. They need to collide in order to make that necessary human contact everybody needs.

1. WHAT DOES THE TITLE CRASH MEAN?
Crash mean an accident or a smash.


STEP 2: THE OPENING MONOLOGUE

1. (2.51 – 5.54) Read the opening monologue.
Graham has just crashed.
The car is now stopped.
This is what he saysIt's the sense of touch. Any real city, you walk, you know?, you brush past people.
People bump into you.
In L.A., nobody touches you. We're always behind this metal and glass.
I think we miss that touch so much that we crash into each other just so that we can feel
something.”
1.1.*Discuss the meaning of these words.
In the L.A the people should touch you, to regain touch with other people.
 
1.2.*How do you think the woman sitting right next to him (the driver) is going to respond to this?
Because there are too much people in L.A this problem effect the touch with the people.
 1.3.The woman sitting next to Graham leaves the car and goes to where the police officer and
the other driver are. What kind of problem do you perceive in the conversation you hear?

STEP 4: WRITING THE STORY
Choose 1 story IN THE FILM and write a summery in the CRASH WIKI.

You'll have 1 of the stories. 
Cameron and Christine

Write a summary of the story.
TV director Cameron Thayer (Terrence Howard) and his wife Christine (Thandie Newton), to exit. Cameron is cooperative, but Christine has had a few drinks and is argumentative. This annoys Ryan, who sexually molests Christine under the pretence of administering a pat-down; intimidated, Cameron says nothing. The couple is released without a citation. Once home, Christine becomes enraged that Cameron did nothing while she was being violated.
 
Describe the characters in the story:

STEP 5: CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
Choose on character you like: Cameron and Christine

Describe this character

Physical description: Cameron is a black man. He's quite tall and quite fat. He's an skin head and he's wearing a fashon blue jacket and black trousers. He wears glasses. Christin is Cameron's partner. She's quite short and black, too. She wears modern and provocative clothes.

Personality: Cameron is so sensitive and so hard-working. He's happy with his wife. He's quite tollerant. Christin is a stressed woman. She sometimes shout Cameron.  She's happy with his husband and they are very happy partners.











Evolution in the story: At the begining they are so happy but when the police stoped their the problems started. They shout because when the police stoped their Cameron didn't do nothing and the policemen tought her. After that Cameron ignore her and Christin becames sad. In the end Christine elicited the crash with two another cars, but she didn't die.

BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM

Descriptions: 

JESS:
Jess loves football and she is 18 years old.
She and her parents come originally from India, but they live in London. Her parents want to save the Indian traditions, so they don’t like female football players.
Especially her mother doesn't like it, but Jess likes football.
Jess have a lot of friends, and she goes to the park to play football with them.
She’s dream is to become a professional football player.
JULES:

Jules loves football and she plays in a professional team. She sees Jess playing football in the park and she asks her if she wanted to play football in her team. They become good friends. Her father supports Jules. Her mother does the opposite. She  fell in love with her coach, Joe, but when they went to Germany, she saw Joe kissing Jess.

In my opinion they are playing football and Jess is the best.

This picture shows a group of girls, a female football team. In the background you can see a football stadium. In the foreground you can see the girls with a big trophy. In the middle there are girls, the trophy, Jess and Jules. The girls are wearing the football clothing. Jessmindah is very happy and she does a ponytail. Next to her are Jules and she’s happy to. In my opinion it is a happy moment,because the girls win a football tournament.

Exercise A: Put These events in the correct order.

1- Pinky has her engagement party.
2- Jules sees Jess playing football in the park, and asks her to join the Hounslow Harriers.
3- Jess' mother sees her wearing shorts and playing Football with Tony's friends, and tells her she's not allowed to play football.
4- Jess lies to her parents that she has a part-time job, so she can go out and play football.
5- Jess and Jules go shopping for football shoes.
6- Pinky's boyfriend' relatives see Jess and Jules laughing and hugging, and think she is kissing a man.

Exercise C: Think about the expectations that Jess' and Jules' families have of them. Make lists of the things that their families and society expect girls to do. Make one list for both girls and another list for Jess.

2.2: Will Pinky Get Married? 

Exercise A:  This Section starts with Pinky's wedding being cancelled, because her future in-laws think that Jess was kissing a white man at the bus-stop. Her parents then forbid her from playing football. Put the following events in order.

1.- The Hounslow Harriers go to Germany.
2.- Joe goes to the Bhamra's house to try to persudade them to allow Jess to play football.
3.- Joe and Jess almost kiss. Jules sees this and becomes jealous.
4.-  The Bhamras find out Jess went to Germany, and try to make her quit the team.
5.- Tony tells Jess that he is gay.
6.- Jess gets into a fight with another football player.
7.- Jess' father sees Joe and Jess hugging.
8.- The wedding is back on again.

Exercise B: Rewrite these paragraphs so they are true. There are three mistakes in each paragraph. 

1.- Pinky blames her sister because her wedding is cancelled. She tells her parents that Jess hasn't stopped playing football. They are very angry and tell her she can't continue to play.
2.- Jules likes Joe. In Germany, Joe and Jess almost kiss. Jules sees this and is upset and jealous. Joe visits Jess' house and they have and argument.
3.- Pinky is very unhappy that her wedding is cancelled. She persuades Teetu, her boyfriend, to talk to his parents.Teetu's parents and the Bhamras arrange for the wedding to continue. Unfortunately, the wedding date is the same day as Jess' final football much.

Exercise C: Joe tries to encourage Jess not to give up. When Jess says that her are you living? What does he mean?

That she is doing what society and her parents wants to her do.

She is very happy because she love football, and she doesn't need a wedding or a husband.

French kiss

ACTIVITY 1: The plot

Kate and Charlie wanted to get married and buy a house. They were about to fly to Paris but Kate was afraid of flying. When he arrives, he fell in love with another woman, Juliette, and Kate decided to go there. On the plane she met Luc, a French man and they talked all the flight. When they landed, Kate was still sleeping when Luc, put a plant with a stolen necklace in her bag. They separate each other and Kate went to his ex-boyfriend's hotel. She couldn't get the room of him so she decided to sit down on a sofa. After a few minutes, a strange man sat with her. They started to talk and suddenly Kate saw Charlie with Juliette going down on the lift, immediately she fainted. When she woke up her bags weren't there, just Luc was there. She described that strange man to Luc and he recognized him, so they went to his house (It was important for Luc because his necklace was still there).When they were there the strange (Bob) said that he had given Kate's clothes to his girlfriend but Luc found the plant. Luc and Kate separated again but when Luc opened the plant his necklace wasn't there. He thought that it was still in Kate's bag. Then Kate took a train and Luc too, they were going to Nice(where Charlie and Juliet were). He was trying to look into her bag all the time. In a Kate’s dream, accidentally they kissed. The next morning they sat together to have breakfast and Kate reminded that she is lactose intolerant so they had to stop because she felt ill. She threw up all the food and it was still two hours for the next train. Meanwhile they were waiting for the train, they went around Luc's town. There, she discovered that he is in trouble with his brother (he stole his wallet and run away) and he wants to buy a vinyard, but first them had to sell a thing, which he had lost, the necklace. They had lunch in there too. Then, they returned to the train and Kate showed him that she had it. They arrived to Nice and when they were going to have lunch Kate saw Charlie with Juliette and her family, planning their wedding. She met them at the beach and sit to talk with them too, including Charlie. Suddenly, when Kate sat on a bank, a police man told her that the necklace was stolen, so she had to give to them. That same night, she met Charlie for dinner and Luc met Juliette, every couple went to a room and kissed, but Kate said no and Luc too. Then Kate went to Cartier to take her money and there she gave the necklace to the police. After, Kate gives the money to Luc and says that that money was the price of the necklace. 
Kate decided to return to Canada, but Luc goes to the plane to met her and say that he wants her with him, in France. Then, with the money they bought a house in front of the vinyard that Luc wanted to buy. They lived their lives together.
 
 
ACTIVITY 2: The Characters

KATE (MEG RYAN): She is the main character. She has short blond hair. She is quite short. She is lactose intolerant. She falls love with Charlie and she starts an adventure in Paris to get Charlie back. In Paris she met with a handsome man, his name Luc. After a few days, she falls love with Luc.

LUC TEYSSIER (KEVIN KLINE): Luc is a French man and he has a big moustache and long dark hair. He loves the wine and the vineyard. He's dream is to buy a big house and have a big vine. He has a big problem with the police, because he stole a necklace and he has other problems with his brother.

CHARLIE (TIMOTHY HUTTON): Charlie is Kate's
husband but he is following love with a French woman, Juliette. He is a Toronto's doctor. He has short black hair and he's quite handsome. He's always wearing a modern dress.

JULIETTE (SUSAN ANBEH): She is a French woman. She is falls love with Charlie. She is going to get married with him. She has long brown hair and she always wears expensive and modern dress. She hates Kate and at the end she is falls in love with Charlie.

BOB (FRANCOIS CLUZET): He is an strange man who takes Kate's bag when she is faint. Luc and Kate's going to find him, at the end they find he and the bag but no Kate's passport and Bob's necklace.

INSPERCTOR JEAN-PAUL CARDON (JEAN RENO): He is a policeman. He tries to find Luc and the necklace, because Luc stool it. When he saw the story with Luc and Kate he helps their.

Hi, I'm Kate and I'm from Canada. I'm engaged with Charlie. He is my husband. I'm afraid of flying by plane, but one day I must do that. Charlie was in Paris for work, but one day he called me and explained to me that he met another girl and that he was in love with her. I was sad. Charlie said that he had found the true love with her. So I flew to Paris because I wanted to talk with him about that. When I got on the plane I met a strange man, but funny and handsome too. His name Luc. During the entire route, we were talking. And when we arrived and got off the plane, he helped me to fine Charlie. After that, I met Charlie and we talked about us. Finally I decided to let him go. So, right now I'm in love with Luc and we're living in France, in a big house next to vineyard.

LUC: OK, So I try to understand.
LUC: He tells you he has met this woman.
LUC: No, this...goddess.
LUC: He beaks your heart. He Hu...
KATE: Hurts me. Humbles me.

LUC: Humiliates you.
KATE: Humiliates me.
LUC: OK, and then you come here to Paris so that he can do it again but this time right in your face.
KATE: NO, No. I come to Paris to get back the man that I love. Is htat so hard to understand, even for a person like you?
LUC: OK, andmeanwhile his lover...
KATE: D'ont ever use that word again.
LUC: This bastard woman, she's fellin something else, maybe?
KATE: Once he saw me, myself, moi, everything, would change, the spell would be broken.
